Katie Zacharia, the new White House press secretary, has come under scrutiny for claiming to be a lawyer without providing evidence of passing the bar exam in any U.S. state. Reports suggest she failed the California bar exam in 2011 and did not retake it. Despite this, she has repeatedly described herself as a lawyer in public appearances and on social media. Two watchdog groups have filed complaints with the State Bar of California, alleging she may have violated state law by practicing law without a license.
