U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces destroyed five Iranian oil tankers on September 8, 2022, in response to two failed ballistic missile attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against a U.S. Navy warship over the preceding two days.
