Fraud Gangs Switch to Myanmar's Communication Networks
Fraudulent gangs operating in Myanmar have adapted their tactics after Thailand cut off power and internet supply at the border. They are now increasingly using local Myanmar communication networks (MPT, Ooredoo, Mytel, ATOM) to connect to the internet, making it harder to stop scams. An investigation found that nearly half of the fraud compounds are no longer dependent on Starlink. Simply cutting off a single technology without targeting criminal networks and military protection systems will only force fraud gangs to transform at a low cost.18 sourcesSee all sources
