    One Dead, Eight Injured in MRPL Refinery Explosion in Mangalore

    An explosion at the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) facility in Karnataka's Mangalore resulted in the death of a 30-year-old contract worker, Manish Karkera, and injuries to eight others. The explosion occurred around 12 pm in the Crude Distillation Unit due to the bursting of a high-pressure cold separator. The fire was contained and extinguished after about two and a half hours. The incident led to damage in nearby residential areas and places of worship. MRPL has announced financial assistance and insurance benefits totaling approximately Rs 1.20 crore for the family of the deceased.

    In a coordinated operation across 10 provinces, primarily in Istanbul, 10 suspects were detained for sharing fighting, threatening, and insulting content on social media platforms, notably TikTok. The suspects were allegedly earning digital income through live broadcasts. They were charged with 'Inciting Hatred and Hostility Among the People or Insulting Them' and 'Obscenity'.

    Pensioner Suspected of Deliberately Shooting, Killing Ukrainian Navy Officer in Odessa

    An 82-year-old pensioner from Dnipro is suspected of intentionally causing a car crash and shooting a 50-year-old captain first rank of the Ukrainian Navy twice, once in the chest and again in the neck, on the Lustdorf Highway in Odesa. The victim died instantly. The suspect, who believed he was carrying out an SBU assignment, was arrested at the scene. Investigators are treating the case as a contract killing.

    15 Men Fined for Online Job Scam in Malaysia

    In a joint operation, 15 men, including 5 Chinese nationals, were convicted for their roles in an online job scam targeting American citizens. The men, aged between their 20s and 40s, were fined RM3,500 to RM4,200 each, with an alternative of six months' imprisonment if they failed to pay. The scam involved offering non-existent online jobs, with the crimes taking place at two residential units in Iskandar Puteri, Nusajaya East Ledang, on September 25.
