    Alex Lanier made history by becoming the first Frenchman to win the World Badminton Championships in the men's singles category. The 21-year-old defeated Japanese Kodai Naraoka 21-11, 21-11 in the final held in New Delhi on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Lanier's victory came after he knocked out the world number two player in the semifinals and reached the final for the first time in his career.

    German Foreign Minister Visits Kyiv Amidst Security Concerns

    German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul arrived in Kyiv by a special train for his fourth visit since taking office. The visit was not announced in advance for security reasons and took place against the backdrop of overnight rocket and drone strikes on the city.
