Deforestation Slows Worldwide, But Surges in Central Africa
According to a recent study, global deforestation slowed down in 2025, with a 15% reduction compared to the previous year. However, this positive trend is threatened by the alarming increase in deforestation in Central Africa, particularly in the Congo basin, which reached 2.4 million hectares, comparable to that of Latin America. An exceptionally strong El Niño weather pattern is also expected to exacerbate the situation.
