    Kazakhstan's First Kurultai Elections Draw International Observers

    Kazakhstan is set to hold its first election of deputies to the new unicameral Kurultai on August 23, following constitutional reforms that changed the political system. The Central Election Commission has accredited over 250 international observers from nine countries and four international organizations, including the OSCE, CIS, and CSTO. The Kurultai will replace the previous Majilis and Senate, with 145 deputies elected for five years.
