Hamburg to Offer Ukrainian as Abitur Exam Subject
Following a significant increase in Ukrainian students due to the Russian invasion, the SPD and Greens in Hamburg plan to introduce Ukrainian as an exam subject for the Abitur (school-leaving exam). Currently, Ukrainian can only be taken as a course but not examined. The proposal is expected to be approved by the city parliament on October 14. If successful, Hamburg will be the first city in Germany to offer Ukrainian as an Abitur subject.
