    First Emirati Woman Becomes Training Captain in UAE

    Captain Huda Al Muslmani (also reported as Huda Al Musallami) has made history as the first Emirati woman to qualify as a training captain in the UAE. This achievement comes on Emirati Women's Day and marks a significant milestone for women in aviation. Al Muslmani began her career in 2003, joined Emirates (or Etihad Airways) in 2014, and progressed to become a captain in 2023. She now holds a certification for Boeing 787 aircraft and has logged over 10,000 flight hours. In her new role, she trains and qualifies the next generation of pilots, paving the way for more Emirati women in aviation.

    Pune Tribal Students' Hunger Strike Enters Day 15

    Tribal students in Pune, Maharashtra, have been on a hunger strike for 15 days, demanding better education and hostel infrastructure, as well as employment assured nine years ago by the Supreme Court. A delegation of students met with Tribal Development Minister Ashok Uike and Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal, with some progress made as a draft and tentative timetable will be prepared within two to three days. The students hope their demands will finally be addressed.
