    Lithuanian Supreme Court Upholds Guilty Verdicts Against Two Former Customs Officers in Smuggling Case

    The Supreme Court of Lithuania has upheld the convictions of two former customs officials, Romas Kavaliauskas and Romanas Czelolas, who were found guilty of intentionally allowing contraband cigarettes to enter Lithuania without inspection. They were also found to have acted as part of an organized group and were fined €81,000 and €59,200 respectively. The decision is final and not subject to appeal.

    22 Illegal Immigrants Detained in Myanmar, Including 1 Chinese National

    On October 10, 22 foreign nationals were detained for illegal entry into Kawthoung, Myanmar, including one Chinese national. The group also consisted of Filipinos, Ugandans, Burundians, Ethiopians, Pakistanis, Nigerians, and Indians. Meanwhile, four Thai nationals suspected of telecom fraud were repatriated. From January 30, 2025, to October 9, 2026, 15,293 illegal entrants were identified and detained, with 14,086 repatriated. Currently, 1,207 await repatriation, including 485 facing charges.

    Thai Police Arrest Drug Suspects, Seize Millions of Methamphetamine Pills

    Thai police recently apprehended several drug suspects, seizing millions of methamphetamine pills in various operations. On October 11, a 34-year-old man was arrested in Bangkok for allegedly orchestrating two drug trafficking cases involving methamphetamine. The following day, joint anti-drug operations targeted four major drug networks, resulting in the seizure of over 13.5 million methamphetamine pills, 280 kg of crystal meth, and 980 ecstasy tablets. In another operation, police in Nakhon Si Thammarat province seized nearly 170,000 methamphetamine pills, marked with Chinese characters 'Zhiyuan' and '3A'. A nationwide sweep on October 12 resulted in 719 arrests and the seizure of over 280,000 ecstasy pills, firearms, and other banned substances.
