Police Intervene in Protests Against Removal of Artworks from Colombian Museum

Protests erupted outside the National Museum of Bogotá after the government ordered the removal of at least 30 pieces related to LGBTIQ+, feminist, and political movements. Over two days, police, including the National Anti-Riot Unit (Unadi), intervened in the largely peaceful demonstrations, using water cannons, stun grenades, and tear gas. Authorities, including the Ombudsman, criticized the interventions as disproportionate. Artists and museums condemned the removal of the artworks, calling it an attempt to erase historical memory.
