Heavy Rain and Storms Kill 56 in Uttar Pradesh, India
Heavy rain and storms have caused at least 56 deaths in Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state, over the past three days. The state received exceptionally heavy rainfall, with 66.5 mm recorded between Friday and Sunday, compared to an average of 7.6 mm for the season. More than 1,000 homes have been destroyed, and rescue operations are underway for those trapped. The deaths and destruction are attributed to a low-pressure system that moved from the Bay of Bengal towards the mainland, intensifying rainfall in the region.46 sourcesSee all sources
