Asian Nations Explore Arctic Sea Route for Trade
China and South Korea have launched container ships via the Arctic's Northern Sea Route (NSR) to Europe, aiming to reduce travel time and bypass traditional routes. China's Sea Legend and NewNew Shipping Line, along with South Korea's PanStar Acro, are among the first to test this route. Russia, which oversees the NSR, has welcomed this cooperation as part of its 'Ice Silk Road' initiative. However, obstacles such as limited navigability due to ice, sanctions against Russia, and the need for more cargo and infrastructure development may hinder wider use.8 sourcesSee all sources
