Senate to Debate BCRA Reform and Cold Zone Changes

The Argentine Senate is set to hold a session on Thursday to discuss and potentially approve two key economic reforms: the modification of the Organic Charter of the Central Bank (BCRA) and changes to the Cold Zone law. The BCRA reform aims to ensure the institution's independence by prohibiting direct or indirect financing from the Treasury and limiting the purchase of public titles. It also introduces changes to the removal process for the president and board members, requiring a two-thirds majority in both chambers of Congress. The Cold Zone reform seeks to reduce gas subsidies by limiting them to Patagonia, Malargüe, and the Puna, while introducing 'warm zones' for other regions with compensated electricity tariffs. The session's outcome is uncertain due to differing opinions among political blocs.

Sunny Hostin, co-host of 'The View', shocked her colleagues by revealing she was the holdout juror who prevented a guilty verdict in the 1989 case of Daniel Rakowitz, dubbed 'The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park'. Rakowitz was accused of murdering his roommate, dismembering her body, and feeding parts of her remains to homeless people. Hostin, who was a juror in the case, argued that Rakowitz was not criminally responsible due to insanity, ultimately leading to a unanimous verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity. Rakowitz is currently being treated in a mental institution.

ICE Hides Detainee Locations Ahead of Deportation

Xenophobic Graffiti Attacks Red Cross Headquarters in Ferrol

The headquarters and vehicles of Red Cross in Ferrol were vandalized with xenophobic and misogynistic graffiti, including messages such as 'Red Cross. Sluts. Endófobas', 'ONG anti-Spanish', and 'Pro-invasion'. Some graffiti also referenced the Kalergi plan, a conspiracy theory spread by the far right, and Ceuta. Ferrol en Común condemned the attacks, which they believe promote racism and xenophobia, and called for educational activities to promote tolerance and respect.
