IIT Mandi Probes 'Shudras Serve Higher Classes' Poster
IIT Mandi has ordered an inquiry into a controversial Bhagavad Gita-themed poster on its campus that said Shudras should 'serve higher classes'. Director Laxmidhar Behera attributed it to students' interpretation of the scripture and distanced the institute from its contents. The poster, titled 'Bhagavad Gita - The Timeless Wisdom', divided society into Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras, each with specific roles. Behera, who teaches a Gita course and is associated with ISKCON, condemned the poster and stressed the institute's commitment to equality and social justice.8 sourcesSee all sources
