Toxic Algae Bloom Along German Baltic Coast
Toxic blue-green algae are blooming along the Baltic coast of Germany due to abnormal heat, causing acute allergic reactions, skin and mucous membrane irritation, and nausea and vomiting if ingested. Swimming bans have been introduced in some areas. The bloom was recorded from Rostock to Hiddensee Island and in many lakes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein.28 sourcesSee all sources
