Sudanese Anti-War Forces Reject Burhan's Dialogue Proposal, Present Alternative Peace Process
Sudanese anti-war forces, including political and civil groups unaffiliated with either side of the conflict, have rejected a domestic dialogue initiative backed by Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. They have instead proposed a peace process combining humanitarian, security, and political tracks. The groups, which include forces associated with the Sudanese Declaration of Principles, the Popular Congress Party, the Umma Party, and civil society organizations, held a consultative meeting in Addis Ababa and adopted a joint position paper entitled 'The Peace Process We Want'. They categorically rejected Burhan's call for 'Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue', considering it a maneuver to legitimize military rule and consolidate the influence of the Islamic movement and remnants of the previous regime within state institutions.4 sourcesSee all sources
