324-Million-Year-Old Insect Fossil Discovered with 24 Limbs
A fossil of a 324-million-year-old creature with 24 limbs has been discovered in Texas. Named Chosha praecursor, this small insect had six legs for terrestrial locomotion and 18 for support and breathing. Unlike modern insects, it had more articulated legs in the abdomen segments and hind legs similar to gills, suggesting it was subaquatic and amphibious.
