Record Landslides in Alps Due to 2026 Heatwave
The summer of 2026 has seen a record number of landslides in the French Alps, particularly around Mont Blanc, driven by extreme heat and thawing permafrost. Scientists attribute a large majority of these landslides to the climate crisis. The Mont Blanc range alone is expected to experience 450 such collapses this year.

Police Bust Online Fraud and Drug Cases, Arrest 35 People in Xiangtan and Xiamen
Western and Xiamen police conducted surprise administrative inspections at 'Haishan Apartment' and 'Haichang Apartment', respectively, busting cases involving online fraud and drug-related crimes. A total of 35 suspects were arrested in each case, including 12 suspects involved in online fraud (10 Vietnamese, 2 Chinese), 2 drug suspects (1 Chinese male, 1 Vietnamese female), and 21 illegal residents without valid passports (18 Chinese, 3 Vietnamese). Police seized computers, mobile phones, weapons, drugs, and other tools used in the crimes. All suspects and evidence were handed over to the respective public security bureaus for further investigation and trial.
