NASA's Perseverance Rover Sets New Mars Distance Record
NASA's Perseverance rover has set a new record for the longest distance driven on another planet's surface. After more than five years of operation, the rover has traveled 45.22 kilometers (28.1 miles) on Mars, surpassing the previous record held by NASA's Opportunity rover. Perseverance's autonomous navigation system, AutoNav, has allowed it to cover over 90% of its distance without human intervention. The rover's engineering systems and scientific instruments remain in excellent condition, with the potential to operate well into the 2030s.57 sourcesSee all sources
