Timur Turlov Elected President of FIDE
Timur Turlov, president of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, has been elected as the new president of the International Chess Federation (FIDE). The election took place at the General Assembly of FIDE in Samarkand. Turlov, who has headed the Kazakhstan Chess Federation since 2023, won the election in the second round with 110 out of 196 possible votes. His program for FIDE's development includes creating a development fund, increasing funding for international chess, digitization, and supporting national federations.
