    Kazakhstanis Watch Perseid Meteor Shower

    The Perseid meteor shower reached its peak on the night of August 12-13, with Kazakhstanis driving up to 30 km outside cities for clear views. Up to 120 meteors per hour were visible under clear weather conditions, away from city lights. No equipment was needed, just patience and a clear view of the sky, preferably from the eastern and southeastern sides. The shower was best viewed after midnight and until dawn.

    Solar Eclipse, Meteor Shower, and Planetary Alignment in One Day

    On August 12, a total or partial solar eclipse will occur, visible in parts of the world including Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia, and Spain. This will be accompanied by the Perseid meteor shower, with up to 100 meteors per hour visible to the naked eye, and a planetary alignment involving six planets: Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The solar eclipse will be most visible in the evening, while the meteor shower will peak during the night.
