Iran's Rapid Aging Population: A Looming Crisis
Iran is experiencing a rapid increase in its elderly population, with current estimates putting the number at around 11 million, or 13% of the total population. This growth is occurring at a rate more than four times the overall population growth, making Iran one of the top five countries worldwide in terms of aging speed. By 2050, demographers predict this number could reach 2.5 million, and by 2051, over 30% of Iran's population could be elderly. Experts warn that Iran is approaching the aging stage rapidly and may face a crisis if preparations are not made.12 sourcesSee all sources
