Fuel theft in the UK has reached alarming levels, with nearly 200,000 pounds of fuel stolen daily due to high gasoline prices. The surge in prices, linked to the Middle East conflict, has led to an increase in incidents at fuel stations, with around 2,872 incidents per day, up from around 2,400 before the crisis. The total volume of stolen fuel has also increased significantly, with approximately 108,900 liters taken without payment per day. Business owners report increased verbal abuse and violent behavior from customers. To tackle this, Forecourt Eye has partnered with Facewatch for facial recognition systems. The political debate centers around whether price increases reflect actual costs or if businesses are exploiting the crisis for profits.
