Local Residents Hindering Enforcement Against Undocumented Immigrants, Including Rohingya, in Selangor

The Menteri Besar of Selangor, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, revealed that local residents are believed to be protecting undocumented immigrants, including Rohingya refugees, which hinders enforcement actions. He acknowledged the existence of an inappropriate alliance between some locals and these groups, with collusion and support from locals making enforcement difficult. The government does not classify Rohingya as refugees, and they do not have the right to engage in business, reside, or own assets freely. There are 9,515 Rohingya individuals recorded in Hulu Langat so far.
