IMD Issues Red Alert for Heavy Rain, Storms in Kerala, Gujarat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rain in several districts of Kerala and Gujarat. The warning is valid for two to three hours starting from 2:18 am on Saturday. In Kerala, the affected districts include Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta. In Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Anand, Aravalli, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Botad, Gandhinagar, Kachchh, Khera, Mahesana, Morbi, Patan, Sabar Kantha, Surendranagar, and Vadodara are under the red alert. The IMD has also issued an orange warning for several other districts in both states. Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions.
