Qatari LNG Tanker Hit by Projectile in Strait of Hormuz

An LNG tanker carrying a shipment from Qatar was struck by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to multiple security consultancies and ship tracking data. The Gaslog Shanghai LNG tanker was identified as the vessel involved. The incident occurred off the coast of Oman and did not result in any environmental impact or casualties. The tanker had loaded its cargo in Qatar on July 27 and stopped transmitting its Automatic Identification System (AIS) signal near the western entrance of the Strait of Hormuz on July 31. This is the second such incident involving a Qatari LNG tanker in the area in recent weeks.
