The Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report revealed that Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) should have recorded a net loss of around RM1.4 billion for the financial year 2017, instead of the net profit of RM3.4 billion reported. This was due to TH not fully complying with the Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) in its financial statements for that year. The RCI also found that TH's use of the Realisable Asset Value (RAV) method was not in line with Section 22 of the Tabung Haji Act and its profit distribution approach from 2014 to 2017 was not compliant with the act. TH has since welcomed the recommendation to announce profit distribution based on audited financial statements and has implemented this approach since 2022.
