Family Blocks Border Crossing to Demand Justice for Murdered Twins in Matamoros

Relatives and friends of Denisse and Dinora García Cruz, 21-year-old sisters murdered in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, blocked the International Free Trade Treaty-Los Indios Bridge to demand justice and the detention of those allegedly responsible. The protesters, armed with posters, asked authorities to speed up investigations and requested the cooperation of the United States to locate four people signaled for their alleged participation in the double homicide. The family members indicated that the four suspects have been identified as U.S. citizens, so they demanded the intervention of U.S. authorities to detain them and hand them over to Mexican authorities to face the corresponding criminal process. The blockade caused traffic disruptions on the Matamoros-Reynosa highway and at the international crossing.
