Starting August 2, the European Union's Artificial Intelligence Act comes into force, mandating transparency obligations for AI systems. Users must be informed when interacting with AI, and AI-generated content must be labeled. This includes chatbots, images, videos, audio, and text designed to look real. The European Commission and member states' market surveillance authorities will enforce these rules, with fines up to 15 million euros or 3% of global annual turnover for violations.
