Aneel Keeps Yellow Flag for Power Accounts in August

The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has kept the yellow flag for electricity consumers in August, marking the fourth consecutive month of higher bills. The yellow flag indicates an additional charge of R$ 1.885 on the electricity bill for each 100 kilowatt-hours (kWh) consumed. This is due to less favorable conditions for energy generation in the country, including a reduction in the levels of reservoirs in hydroelectric plants and the need to activate thermoelectric plants, which have a higher cost. Aneel emphasizes the importance of conscious use of electricity to help control expenses.
