Iran, US Disagree on Strait of Hormuz Status

Iranian officials and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) insist that the Strait of Hormuz is closed, and any passage through it is only possible with their coordination. However, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) refutes these claims, stating that the strait remains open for commercial shipping and that thousands of ships have transited through it in the past four months. Iran closed the strait due to 'continuing aggressive actions by the US military in the region,' according to an official statement, while CENTCOM calls on ships to 'proceed through it freely.'
