Argentina, South Korea Sign Cooperation Memorandum on Critical Minerals

Argentina and South Korea signed a cooperation memorandum on critical minerals, focusing on lithium, during South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's visit to Buenos Aires. The memorandum aims to promote investments and joint projects in exploration, extraction, processing, and refining of critical minerals. The Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno and South Korean Minister of Commerce, Industry and Resources Kim Jeong-kwan signed the memorandum at the Palacio San Martín. The agreement also seeks to expand technological exchange and strengthen secure supply chains for battery and advanced technology industries. Additionally, the Argentine government approved South Korean company Posco's access to benefits within the Regime of Incentives for Large Investments (RIGI) for the expansion of its lithium Sal de Oro project in northwestern Argentina, with an investment of $207.9 million.
