Sánchez Announces Buoy Installation to Control Migrant Crossings in Ceuta

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has announced the installation of buoys in the sea near Ceuta's breakwater to create a physical barrier and deter migrants from crossing into Spanish territory by swimming. This move comes in response to a Supreme Court ruling that prohibits the immediate return of migrants who enter by swimming, as there was no physical barrier preventing their entry. The buoys will serve as a containment element to facilitate border repatriation and comply with the court's ruling. Sánchez has also accused human trafficking mafias of exploiting the situation and has opened the possibility of reforming the Aliens Act to ensure efficient border repatriations. The Government is speeding up procedures to facilitate the repatriation of the estimated 60,000 immigrants who have entered Ceuta in recent days.
