Early Voting in US Midterms Surpasses 53 Million, Setting New Record

Over 53 million Americans have cast their ballots early for the upcoming midterm elections, surpassing the previous record of 45.9 million votes on election day itself. This marks a significant increase from the nearly 46 million early votes in the last midterm elections in 2022. The surge in early voting is particularly notable in key states with hotly contested races, such as Texas and Kansas. Democrats currently hold an initial advantage in early voting, with around 6.8 million registered Democrats and 5.2 million Republicans having cast their ballots in states that report voter party affiliation. However, these figures do not cover all early voters nationwide and do not indicate which candidates received their votes.
