Starting November 1, 2026, the European Union (EU) will impose a new surcharge on online purchases of products shipped from outside the European Union. The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) warns that this new customs clearance fee of 2 euros per product category will be added to the existing tariff of 3 euros, increasing the minimum additional cost for such purchases. This measure is part of the reform of the European Customs Union aimed at addressing the growing volume of low-value shipments and strengthening controls against fraud, tax evasion, and the marketing of unsafe products.
