United Airlines Reports Record Q3 Revenue Despite Rising Fuel Costs

United Airlines reported a net profit of $1,029 million in the third quarter of 2026, an 8.5% increase year-over-year, despite a 61.6% increase in fuel costs. The airline's quarterly revenues increased by 17.4% to $17,875 million, driven by a significant increase in fuel spending which reached $4,843 million. United transported 49.5 million passengers in the quarter, a 2.4% increase year-over-year, and increased its capacity by 1.3%. The company expects to recover the increase in fuel spending through higher fares.
