Netflix has dismissed Dan Lin as its film boss after less than three years in the role. Lin's departure comes amidst a wave of layoffs at the streaming giant, including the exit of chief content officer Bela Bajaria. Lin, a successful producer behind films like 'The LEGO Movie' series and 'It', was hired to run Netflix Film in 2024 after the exit of Scott Stuber. His tenure marked a shift towards more comedies, romantic comedies, and book adaptations. Lin's exit follows reports of tensions with filmmakers like Greta Gerwig over theatrical releases.
