Turkey Launches First Floating Gas Platform to Boost Black Sea Production

Turkey has launched its first floating gas production platform, Osman Gazi, to the Sakarya field in the Black Sea. The platform, which can accommodate up to 140 crew members, is expected to double natural gas production from 9.5 to 20 million cubic meters per day. It will process the extracted gas directly on board and supply it to the national gas network. The project is estimated to contribute around $3.5 billion annually to the Turkish economy and increase the number of households using domestic gas from 4 million to 8 million.
