Archaeologists have discovered the world's oldest known shipwreck off the coast of Turkey, dating back to around 4400 to 4700 years ago, from the Early Bronze Age. The wooden structure has not survived, but more than 30 ceramic amphorae and three stone anchors were found on the seabed. The ship is believed to have been used for transporting goods across the Mediterranean Sea and could have been headed for Troy or Crete.
