The European Commission has chosen 46 new strategic projects in 16 member states to enhance the security of supply of critical raw materials and diversify their sources, aiming to reduce dependence on external suppliers. The projects, requiring around 21.1 billion euros in investment, cover 15 out of the 17 strategically important raw materials, focusing on key materials for battery, defense, space, and permanent magnet industries. The selection was made from 102 applications and follows the objectives of the European Critical Raw Materials Act of 2030.
