Remittances received by Mexican families have lost more than 20% of their purchasing power over the last year and a half, according to a warning from the Bank of Mexico (Banxico). This deterioration is linked to the stagnation of household consumption and the depreciation of the Mexican peso. Despite an interannual decline in August, remittances totaled $41.802 billion in the first eight months of 2026, a 2.2% increase from the same period in 2025.
