The Philippine National Police (PNP) reports a 29.75% decrease in key crime cases nationwide from July to September 2026 compared to the same period last year. A total of 7,233 cases were recorded, down from 10,296 cases. The eight key crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, car theft, and motorcycle theft. In September alone, cases decreased by 36%. PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. attributed the drop to the PNP's continued efforts and announced plans to strengthen police deployment, patrols, and investigations, focusing on illegal drugs, firearms, and terrorism.
