National Day Golden Week Brings Record Visitor Numbers to Hong Kong

The National Day Golden Week holiday has begun, with a record number of mainland tourists visiting Hong Kong. On the first day alone, over 27.7 million mainland visitors entered Hong Kong, setting a new record for single-day entries since the full reopening of Hong Kong and the mainland in 2023. The Immigration Department has deployed additional staff and opened more inspection counters to handle the influx of visitors. The holiday coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, further boosting tourist numbers. On the second day, over 950,000 border crossings were recorded by 9 pm, with over 220,000 from the mainland.
