Researchers have developed a new type of ice, reinforced with cellulose, that is approximately 10 times stronger and can absorb around 70 times more energy than regular ice, making it comparable to concrete in terms of strength. This innovative material, named BioPykrete, gradually deforms and breaks instead of shattering suddenly. Scientists envision its potential use in polar regions where transferring traditional building materials like concrete and steel is challenging and expensive.
