Malaysia has successfully blocked over 1.0166 billion fraudulent and spoofed calls between February and August this year, with many of these calls originating from overseas but displaying as local Malaysian numbers. The country implemented a 'cross-carrier number spoofing interception gateway' that identifies and blocks such calls across different telecommunication networks. Deputy Communications Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin praised the system's effectiveness, stating that over 1 billion related calls have been blocked in just seven months.
