Meet Peng Liyuan, China's First Lady and Xi Jinping's Wife

Peng Liyuan, a renowned soprano and former member of the People's Liberation Army, has emerged as a prominent figure alongside her husband, Chinese President Xi Jinping. Born in Shandong province, she began her vocal training at 16 and joined a military theater troupe at 20. Peng and Xi have been married since 1987 and have one daughter. Known for her bold fashion choices and active role in health and well-being initiatives, Peng has accompanied Xi on numerous foreign trips, including visits to the U.S. where she has engaged in cultural diplomacy, singing with choirs and promoting Chinese language and culture.
