Majority of Hajj Depositors Lack Sufficient Savings for Eligibility

Over 80% of approximately 4.1 million depositors registered for the Hajj have savings of less than RM15,000, the minimum required to maintain their current eligibility after a transition period ending in 2028. Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) introduced this requirement to ensure financial preparedness and reduce delays in invitations. The RM15,000 benchmark is not a measure of wealth but a basic indicator of financial readiness for potential pilgrims. TH confirms no special exemptions based on age, income group, or waiting period.
