U.S. Prepares Sweeping Sanctions Against International Criminal Court

The Trump administration is set to impose wide-ranging sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), according to multiple reports. The measures, which could come as soon as this week, would prohibit most transactions with the ICC after a six to seven-month grace period, potentially preventing the court from conducting U.S.-dollar transactions and cutting it off from much of the global financial system. The sanctions would significantly expand existing U.S. sanctions targeting individual ICC officials and follow the issuance of arrest warrants by the court for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant on charges of alleged war crimes in Gaza.
