Navy Oversized Salaries Scandal: Prosecutor Seeks Evidence in $981M Embezzlement Case

The federal justice in Argentina has initiated a formal investigation into a corruption scheme involving the payment of oversized salaries within the Argentine Navy. Prosecutor Ramiro González has requested a series of key evidence, including computer expertise, witness testimonies, and documentation from the National Bank, to determine how hundreds of irregular bank transfers were carried out, diverting nearly a thousand million pesos. The scheme allegedly involved 23 people, four of whom were unrelated to the Navy, with a total amount of $981,148,567.88. The main suspect is Captain of the Navy Accountant Ariel Baltasar Atanasoff, who admitted to distributing money outside permitted limits to benefit recipients financially, with his wife being the main beneficiary.
